Our Step By Step Guide

To the Design Process when you work with RW Architectural Design - Our knowledgeable team will help bring your project to life.

At the beginning of your design journey, we will meet with you to discuss your project. During this stage we will talk through your vision, feasibility, time frame and budget. Following the consultation we will send you a quote for the job.

STEP 01/ Consultation & Planning

Upon acceptance of the Quote and payment of the up-front deposit, we will then commence design works. We will layout an initial site plan and provide a basic floor plan and elevations to get started.

STEP 02/ Initial Concept Drawings

The concept drawings will be developed further with a detailed and developed site plan, floor plan and elevations including a drawing of a locality plan (if required). During this stage you can make changes to your vision before you give us the “go ahead” to proceed with the pricing set drawings.

STEP 03/ Developed Concept Drawings

The designs provided in this stage will assist you in finding the right builder for your project if you have not already engaged one and identify if third party consultants must be utilised. The in-depth design work provided in this stage will be used for you to obtain quotes from various builders and contractors to complete the project.

STEP 04/ Pricing Set Drawings

The drawings completed in this stage detail everything required for us to submit the drawings to the relevant Council to obtain building consent. Once the drawings are approved by Council, they will be used to guide the building and construction process on site.

Do you have Builders and Consultants that you recommend?

We have strong relationships with experienced builders and external consultants throughout the Waikato and are happy to help you in the selection process.

If there are uncertainties on site, consultants such as geotech engineers, or fire specialists may also be required.

How does the process and fees work?

Once we've met with you to discuss the details of your project, we'll provide you with a formal Quote that outlines the scope of your design and the design costs involved.

Invoices are sent out in stages throughout the design process. We are happy to provide guidance and answer any questions you may have, at any stage of the process.

How will I know what materials to use?

We take pride in designing projects with material availability in mind.

We understand that knowing which building materials are readily available and which are on back order will ensure a smooth building process and assist you to stay within your budget.

How does the Building Consent process work with council?

We handle the entire Building Consent Application with your local council.

We provide all documentation required to council and communicate directly on your behalf, to make getting Building Consent as painless as possible.
